Are you an experienced DevOps professional ready to take on a Lead role?
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about high performing DevOps and would enjoy leading our DevOps function. This role is suited to an Engineer who can be confident in managing and improving our DevOps capability, whilst demonstrating their ability as a mentor, nurturing the next generation of DevOps Engineers and encouraging knowledge sharing across the development team.
Our DevOps function combines Platform and SRE requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, implementing, updating and optimising our well-established production and developer platforms.
DevOps is a crucial part of our Engineering function and we’re keen to find somebody who is passionate and keen to build a high performing capability and team! Ideally you will have knowledge of Kubernetes, however we’d also be happy to support development in this area.

/More about the role:
As part of this role, you will take the lead of myairops DevOps, owning and developing the strategy, this includes improving our existing capability and leading on enhancements, including event monitoring.
You will be leading in environment design, considering the architectural trade-offs including Scalability, Resiliency, High Availability, Storage and Security. Performing capacity planning and solution reviews related to the Kubernetes environment.
The DevOps Team Lead will also take ownership of the myairops Azure infrastructure, including scheduling and running maintenance, troubleshooting production issues, and evolving the platform with deployments, monitoring and optimisation.
/ Primary Responsibilities include:
- Technical lead for the DevOps function, owning and developing the strategy and driving improvements in our DevOps capability.
- Leading designated projects as part of the Engineering leadership team.
- To mentor and support the development of DevOps engineers and other engineers looking for support in developing DevOps expertise.
- Managing and maintaining the infrastructure (Microsoft Azure) to support CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that CI/CD pipelines are well designed, maintained and implemented.
- Own and report on the availability and security of our environments.
- Proposing, scheduling, and managing maintenance windows for Azure infrastructure and services.
- Perform proof-of-concept work for new tools and components.
- Turn proof-of-concept work into Production grade systems.
- Perform regular 1-2-1s with team members, highlighting and supporting development opportunities.
/ Skills and Experience required:
Essential:
- Azure DevOps (VSTS) Deep Knowledge.
- PowerShell, YAML.
- Experience of containerisation within business-critical applications.
- Expertise in supporting a Development team with CI/CD activities, including supporting. release management and deployment management processes.
- Ability to own the Azure & AKS infrastructure, and drive improvements throughout to ensure that all myairops infrastructure is high performing and highly available.
- UK SC Security Clearance or eligible to obtain.
Desirable:
- Experience of running Kubernetes production workloads with business-critical applications .
