Celebrating Women in Tech: Inspiring the Next Generation

This International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on the incredible women in tech who are making a difference every day. At myairops, we’re proud to have talented women shaping the future of aviation technology. Today, we’re featuring one of our own – Sadhana, a QA Software Engineer – who shares her journey, achievements, and advice for women looking to break into the industry.

Breaking Barriers in Tech

As a QA Software Engineer at myairops, Sadhana’s primary responsibility is to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of the software products we deliver. She explains:

“My role is critical in maintaining the high standards expected by our users and stakeholders. My day-to-day work involves test planning and strategy, test case design and execution, bug reporting and tracking, regression and smoke testing, and collaborating closely with developers, product teams, and stakeholders to drive quality improvements.”

What Inspired Sadhana to Pursue a Career in Technology?

Sadhana’s journey into technology was driven by curiosity, passion, and a desire to make a difference. She shares:

“Growing up, I was always fascinated by how things worked – whether it was dismantling gadgets or exploring how software streamlined everyday life. That curiosity naturally led me to a career in tech.”

As a woman in this field, she was also inspired by the opportunity to challenge stereotypes and pave the way for others:

“Early on, I noticed how few women were in the room. While that could have been intimidating, it fueled my determination. I wanted to prove that women not only belong in tech but can thrive and lead. Seeing more women enter and succeed in the industry has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud to be part of this change.”

Sadhana’s Proudest Achievement in Tech

One of Sadhana’s proudest career moments was leading the successful launch of a critical product feature under a tight deadline. She recalls:

“I implemented an automated testing framework that reduced manual effort by 40% and caught critical bugs early, ensuring a high-quality release. Beyond the technical success, this achievement reinforced my belief that women can lead, innovate, and drive impactful change in tech. It also inspired other women on my team to take on leadership roles and push boundaries.”

Challenges and How She Overcame Them

Being a woman in tech comes with its challenges, from overcoming stereotypes to sometimes feeling underrepresented. Sadhana tackled these challenges by:

“I focused on my skills, continuously learning and improving my technical expertise. I also built a strong support network, finding mentors and allies who encouraged and guided me. Most importantly, I advocated for myself and others – speaking up, taking on leadership opportunities, and supporting women entering the field.”

Through persistence and confidence, she has broken barriers and helped create a more inclusive space for women in tech.

Advice for Young Women Entering Tech

For young women considering a career in tech, Sadhana shares this advice:

“Believe in yourself – you have what it takes to succeed. Embrace continuous learning because tech is ever-evolving. Seek mentors and build a support network; surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you. Speak up and take risks – your voice and ideas are valuable. Most importantly, know that you belong here. Diversity in tech is essential, and your perspective matters.”

How Companies Can Support Women in Tech

Organizations play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and diverse tech environment. Sadhana believes companies can support and encourage more women to join and thrive in tech by:

“Creating an inclusive culture that encourages diverse hiring and fosters a workplace where women feel valued. Offering mentorship programs to provide guidance and career growth opportunities. Promoting equal opportunities by ensuring fair pay, promotions, and career advancement. Implementing flexible work policies to support work-life balance for all employees. And most importantly, championing female leadership by elevating women into leadership roles to inspire future generations.”
