Getting To Know Us: Employee Spotlight on Sales Manager Fi Price

This week we’re highlighting a key member of our Sales Team, Fi Price. With a strategic mind for sales and a deep understanding of our industry, Fi plays a pivotal role in shaping client relationships and driving business growth, since joining myairops three years ago. We sat down with her to learn more about her journey, her role, and her insights as a woman in the aviation technology sector.

Fi started by telling us about her role in the myairops Sales Team:

“Hi my name is Fi and I am part of the sales team at myairops. I’m one of the Sales Managers, so my job is speaking to new prospects, walking them through the process of reviewing our software solutions, giving them some demos, and then working with them throughout any negotiations and legal process.”

She explained every workday is different, from demonstrating our products to talking with clients face-to-face at events:

“A typical day for me is never very typical! Because of the nature of the business and because we work with a lot of different flight operations; from corporate flight departments to charters and special missions, everyone we’re speaking to is completely different, so there isn’t really a typical day.

I answer any questions that they have, and also reach out to customers and prospects that are either working with us now or are in the review process, so we can talk to them about new features that we’re building, get customer feedback, and on top of that we go to NBAA events and exhibit there where we can. It’s a really good opportunity for us to meet with our customers and prospects face to face.”

Fi mentions that there are many enjoyable parts to her job, including varied days, frequent travelling, networking and socializing to name a few:

“My favourite part about my job at myairops is how varied the days are – because we speak to a lot of different operators, no two days are the same. I get to speak to many different people around the globe who’ve got completely different requirements and part of my job is making sure that I can then show them how our system works. I also get to do a lot of travelling and attend a lot of events around the globe, which is fantastic for meeting new people and also getting to see parts of the world that I wouldn’t ordinarily.”

She explained her background in aviation, in which she gained a wealth of knowledge in the supplying sector of the commercial industry, and was then recommended to join myairops by a colleague to take on her next challenge:

“I’ve been in aviation for 20 years. I started in commercial aviation and worked for a company who were supplying components to commercial airlines, I worked there for a long time and then decided that I would either be there forever or I was going to move on to a different company in aviation. This opportunity came up – one of the people I knew in the industry had been working here previously and said that it would be a good fit for me, so I joined about three years ago. My first week at myairops was at NBAA BACE in Orlando! I immediately knew I would really like the company and the people.”

Fi shared her perspective on being a woman in the industry, along with thoughtful advice for those considering a career in this fast-paced and ever-evolving field:

“If I was considering a career in aviation, I would look for a company similar to myairops – we’re quite unique because we have over 50% of a female workforce. That has changed a lot since I joined the industry – it used to be very male dominated. I would look for a company that would fit me as a person as well as in the industry that I’m interested in.”

She then went on to tell us about how excited she is for this years’ upcoming myairops user group event:

“One of the things I’m most excited about in the near future is our upcoming myairops user group. This is an opportunity for us to bring all of our customers together. It’s a three day event, and during that time we run through our roadmap and we talk to our customers about what they would like us to add into the products. We show them what we’re building currently, and we do some breakout training sessions too. It’s also a really nice opportunity for the community around our products to all be together. We host this at our offices in Denver and we have some really nice social time where everyone can network, as well as the more formal time where we’re learning about the products.”

In her spare time, Fi told us that she loves an active and outgoing lifestyle, with her ideal weekend being spent taking advantage of the great outdoors, exercising, or meeting with friends:

“In my free time I’m really fortunate because I live in a National Park, so I’m able to make the most of being outdoors, whether that’s at the beach, out on the water or hiking across the forest.

An ideal weekend for me is almost entirely outside. When the weather is good, I get to the beach or the river, go for a hike, see some friends and just enjoy the outdoors!”

Lastly, she shared an impressive fact that many of her colleagues might not know, along with one of her proudest achievements.

“I’ve been very fortunate to travel as part of my job and also in my free time. At last count I’d been to 43 of the European countries!

Also, something that I’m very proud of is that a few years ago my friends and I got together and we completed the Three Peaks Challenge raising money for a local charity. We just snuck under the 24 hour limit and did it in 23 hours, 51 minutes.”

Thanks, Fi, for sharing your story and your insights. We’re proud to have you on the team and grateful for the dedication and energy you bring to the company every day.
